Here I have the front-and-back page and center fold spreads from the March 2016 issue of the Mount Observer that I designed. I've made a few tweaks to the photo captions and credits, making them smaller and placed in the right positions. Let me know what you think.
Looks like lot of work was put into this design. I think "Oh the opportunities" looks stretched and distorted. Perhaps it was supposed to but looks off to me.
ReplyDeleteTom – Page 7 has some random lines that appear crowded above the horizontal rule and under the Bruins: Defense Must Improve photo. Do you see them? You need to make sure the 3 columns under that photo align horizontally with the columns to the left. You have a short last time, so you have some room to do this.
ReplyDeleteThe article at the bottom of Page 7 has a very short last column. Work that negative space up between the 2 articles, separating them a bit more. Drop the whole section down on the page, to increase negative space between the 2 articles, and the type should flow around to help fill that short last column.
Page 6 – does that box at bottom with “Work for Us!” follow the grid? I don’t think so. I wonder if it could sit in 2 or 3 column width and the type could wrap around it? It would make more sense on the page, I think.
