Hill Design website

Hey, all! Well, here is my website. I decided to go with Carbonmade rather than Behance. Overall, I'm pretty pleased. Let me know what you think.

InDesign v. Quark

So I decided to download the 3-day trial version of Quark Xpress and try it out. It is very similar to InDesign, just really clunky and it takes longer to do some things here than it does in InDesign. Anyway, to test it out, I decided to try recreating the front page of the March issue of the Mount Observer in Quark. The top image is the original page, which I designed in InDesign, and the bottom one is the new one, made in Quark Xpress. Let me know what you think.

Project 8 Rework1- The Mount Observer, March 2016

Here I have the front-and-back page and center fold spreads from the March 2016 issue of the Mount Observer that I designed. I've made a few tweaks to the photo captions and credits, making them smaller and placed in the right positions. Let me know what you think.

Project 3 Rework 4

Here is the new version of the Dover Demon piece. I moved the text and made it smaller to try to better fill in the remaining negative space in the sky. I also lightened up the horizon line a bit. Let me know what you think.

Project 6: Inspiring Designers Poster Rework 1

Here is my "Inspiring Designers" poster design for my Design Theory class. We were to take the information given to us for the poster and come up with a design that would be eye-catching and stand out in a high school to attract new students to the GID program. I came up with a blueprint theme to play on the "Designing Leaders" bit in the headline. Let me know what you think.

Project 5: Thoreau T-Shirt Design

For this project, our assignment was to create a t-shirt design centered around a quote by Henry David Thoreau. We were also encouraged to incorporate an environmental message into the design. The quote I chose to base my design on was as follows:

"The only danger in friendship is that it will end."

I chose to incorporate a message on the melting of the ice caps, and went for an emotional connection by employing some cute penguins being separated by the cracking ice flows. Let me know what you think.
