Based on feedback I received, I made some adjustments to my black and white logo. I changed one of the bulb screw shapes to extend and curve with the book below it to resemble part of the book as well. I changed the typeface to Kingthings, which I found to be more akin to the thick lines and curves used in the symbol.
I am open to further feedback, but I am rather happy with it.
Ian – this is quite light hearted, and I didn’t realize that the initials actually spelled “I am bright.” Clever – as long as your treatment continues to be light hearted, and we don’t assume you have this crazy out of control ego (which we know you don’t only because we know you). Font is an improvement, good. Multiple pages also makes the “book” shape more recognizable. I’m not completely convinced that the area between the bulb and the book is done. I’m not sure why the gutter of the book has been filled in with black… are you sure that is the best decision? “Filling in” that all-important point where the curves come together with a “blob” of a shape… not sure that makes sense. Keep thinking – I know it’s a detail, but it’s an important detail.
ReplyDeleteIan,
ReplyDeleteThat is a good compromise in the typography, the thick font fits well with it and it feels like just enough type. As Coni said, that implication of I Am Bright is very clever, and it even goes so far as to draw a connection between the image and the type. I agree with Coni about where the bulb meets the book. The original idea of defining the light bulb contact might make it more clear. The shape there is much more readable as a book though, so that is a plus!
