Hey, Carl. One suggestion I might make is to try narrowing down the amount of fonts used in the poster. There are so many font shifts as of now that it is sort of distracting from the information. Narrowing it down to two or three fonts (maybe two different fonts, but using different weights/styles?) might help with this. Otherwise, I think you're on the right track, and I'll be interested to see where you take it.
Carl – I agree with the too many fonts idea, and also want you to consider a more involved background. Maybe the sun should actually be a sunset.. and the deep blue could be less bright and actually hold a night sky with stars. Consider rewriting the copy, so that you have more information about the show and less about the contact information. Make sure the type is placed in a way that we can read it clearly. This could have potential – currently it does look like a high school poster, but you can refine it to show some good illustrator work (night sky) and typography skills.
