THREE REALLY INSPIRING PORTFOLIOS

A.H.A. DESIGN

I like the ease of navigation, the animations on a few of their work. The color contrast, shape, and unity between all the different parts of their work.

I like the different colors, well known layout, great illustrations, and how he presented his work, and the layout of the descriptions.

I enjoy the simplicity of the navigation, the illustrations throughout his portfolio. The colors, contrasts, shapes, values, and unity between all the different examples of his work. But also the use of texture throughout his entire portfolio. I was surprised it wasn’t as unique as his resume that I found beforehand. Which the link is below, if anyone else is interested in checking that out.

  1. Carl – Robby Leonardi is crazy different, crazy motion graphics, crazy fun. It is interesting that you think his website isn’t as interesting as his resume… because it seemed pretty outlandish to me. Even moving the mouse on the home page seemed to affect the elements on the page. His animations are all over TV and the movies, I recognize many of them. This site might work well for him – but I would caution you to maybe be a little bit less over the top, unless motion graphics is exactly what you are planning to do.

First and foremost, it is refreshing to see someone using circles to display rather than one large, rectangular picture for showing their work. There is so much content in the works that it feels like texture, which is something quite wild in itself.

The color choice for his website is what I notice as soon as I arrive to the site. He has chosen to present his works on a colored canvas and I think that it creates quite an impact from his contemporaries who largely chose a white background. He chooses to work in a illustrated or cartoon-like manner, and his unique designs separate his work from his counterparts.

This is certainly a different site and it looks like it holds the designer's personality. His micro-sites are well designed and feel very much like a magazine page. I find it very easy to move from the top out through the bottom of these pages. It is also nice to see animations on the site as well.

  3. All pretty great work contained in pretty well-designed portfolios. I'll echo Tom G's approval of the circles in the A.H.A. Design portfolio, as well as the ease of navigation (which is seen in all of the sites you chose); just click on what you want, then scroll down to click on something else when you're done, no "back button" necessary. I also love the fun, playful color choices in the works chosen, and a lot of these projects look and sound as thought they were fun to design.
