Project 3 Selling Fonts

This was my Typography Visual Communication GID117 SGI project. Where we were assigned a case study, and had to sell a pair of their fonts. My case study being Matthew Carter the creator of the fonts Verdana and Georgia.

  1. This looks excellent. Very creative organization of elements.

  2. Carl – I’m happy to see this again! The layout is complicated, but successful as far as giving us the “feeling” of HTML code among a designed page. So – the big change I’m going to suggest is to define a more successful color palette. I understand that these colors are rooted in the coding process… but you have 2 dominant colors that are really fighting with each other in the way are using them. Decide which one is the dominant (I vote for the pink, since you have already established the focal point heading with it). So… the blue needs to change. What about grey? It will actually be more readable than that crazy light value blue/green. Or – stick with the dark blue that I see in the code on your right page.

I also notice that you have used 2 different leading settings for your 2 paragraphs. I think the proper leading is somewhere between the 2 – so decide on that and use if for your paragraphs on the left page.

Your portrait is really quite nice… and seems very small on the page… have you considered placing it lower on the page (bleeding off the bottom) and enlarging it?
