Three Inspiring Graphic Design Portfolios

Just Creative/Jacob Cass

I really like the logo designs in this portfolio, as well as the overall easy-to-use website layout. Logo design is something I've been interested in learning a bit more about, and this portfolio gives me some ideas to reference.

I really like the bright, colorful nature of this portfolio and the work within it. The designer is also quite the illustrator, and this portfolio contains one of my favorite things: character design. It is also pretty great that the designer includes concept sketches of the characters as well, to see the progression from initial idea to finished design.

I think this portfolio has a really great range, from package design, to books, invitations, t-shirts, websites, logos, and even pencil drawings. I also like the different aesthetic choices that can be seen in different projects (see: the designs for the research and technology symposium as opposed to the illuminated manuscript style of the Bangkok Project), and yet it still seems that they were all designed by the same person; the pieces chosen all seem to work together when placed in the same space.

  1. Tom – What a great range of portfolios! Cass is very much a Brand Designer, Brochier is a crazy, brightly colored illustrator, and Alisara is in love with typography. And… just a quick glance shows me their interests, and strengths. Yes – these are very well considered portfolios!

There is quite some variety here in his portfolio, maybe the most I've seen yet. I like how he has a varying title in the top which changes depending on what you hover over. His picture also goes from black and white to color when hovering over it; it seems he took great care in designing the way his site is responsive. He has variety in the types of work he does, the color pallets, and the amount of visual content he adds to design.

I think he has good work here, his use of line and color sometimes appears to be fine art or implies it. I find that this does separate him from the other illustrators I've seen in looking at these portfolios. The biggest problem for me is the yellow, it is far too jarring for comfortable browsing. I feel that it is giving me connotations which are separate from the aim of the site.

Wow, there is some seriously great work here. There's some variety to the work, and despite that it all feels like it belongs together. She has chosen a good theme to contain her different fields of expertise in the site. This talent follows through with her branding as well, everything fits together. The quality of her work is evident throughout her whole portfolio. Each part on it's own is wonderful, but the fact that there is so much variety and it is all great just blows me away.
