My Thoreau T-shirt Design project from Digital Illustration GID 115, project which we had to pick a famous quote from David Thoreau and illustrate our idea based off our chosen quote. The shirt had to be a three color design.

If anyone has any suggestions share them please

  1. Based on our last discussion, I definitely think the text has been improved in terms of legibility; it is now much easier to tell in what order the audience should read the quote. I think adding the green to the "our own" also helps balance out the color scheme a bit more as well.

  2. I like the changes you made, though something throws me about the semi-circle shape some of your text is in. But I honestly can't think of a better position for them.

  3. "WOW" was my first comment as soon as I opened this thread. The illustration is awesome, ready for your portfolio.

  4. Carl – I think your bear illustration is being covered up in both of these variations by type that seems to be “in the way” rather than integrated into the illustration. The only part of the type that looks like it is “part” of the illustration is the word “Wildness”. So… why not leave that where it is, and pull all the other type to below the bear portrait. We will not have any readability issues then and it will allow us to appreciate your great drawing. The font choice works fine…. but again, those small words add confusion to the bear… and should simply be placed below your artwork. You have plenty of room, right?

  5. Carl,

I think that the type -is- getting in the way, like Coni says. There's a lot of cool hidden shapes in this piece you definitely don't want them getting lost because of the type. I like the type used in "wilderness" and I think that the rest of the type should convey this energy. I am thinking the type used should reflect the sentiment of the quote and the attitude of the illustration as well as be utilized in a fashion that supports the design.
